1. What NightTale Is

NightTale is a subscription-based service that uses artificial intelligence to generate personalised, illustrated bedtime story series for families. Parents provide details about their children — names, ages, and optionally a physical description — and NightTale uses that information to produce original story episodes featuring their children as the heroes. Each episode includes AI-generated illustrations and optional narration. Stories are delivered digitally for in-app reading and can be exported as PDFs. NightTale is designed for families with young children and is intended to be used by a parent or guardian, not by children directly.

2. Account & Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old to create a NightTale account. By signing up, you confirm that you are an adult and that any child profiles you create belong to children in your household or immediate family, and that you have the authority to provide their information on their behalf.

NightTale accounts are household accounts — one subscription covers your entire family. You may not share your account credentials with people outside your household or create accounts on behalf of others for commercial use. Each account is limited to one active subscription at a time.

3. Credits & Billing

NightTale operates on a credit-based subscription model. One credit produces one fully illustrated story episode. New accounts receive 2 free story credits upon signup — no payment method required.

Paid plans are billed monthly:

• Starter — $9.99/month: 12 story credits per month.
• Daily Stories — $18.99/month: 30 story credits per month, plus priority generation queue.

Credits refresh at the start of each billing cycle and do not roll over. Payments are processed securely by Stripe. You can cancel your subscription at any time through your account settings; your subscription will remain active until the end of the current billing period. We do not offer refunds for partial billing periods or unused credits, except where required by applicable law.

4. Content Ownership

The story episodes generated through NightTale belong to your family. You may read, download, print, and share them for personal, non-commercial use. You may not resell or commercially exploit stories generated using the NightTale service.

To improve the quality and safety of story generation, we may use anonymised, de-identified data — such as aggregated prompt patterns, generation outcomes, and content safety signals — to train and evaluate our AI systems. We do not use your children's names, images, or personal details to train AI models, and we do not share identifiable story content with third parties for commercial purposes.

5. Acceptable Use

NightTale is designed to produce age-appropriate, family-friendly stories. You agree not to use the service to generate content that is harmful, offensive, sexually explicit, violent, or that targets or demeans any individual or group. You agree not to attempt to circumvent the content safety systems built into the platform.

Automated or programmatic use of NightTale — including scraping, bots, or API abuse — is not permitted. We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms without prior notice.

6. Intellectual Property & Trademarked Characters

NightTale's AI systems are designed to create original characters and worlds. Requesting stories that feature trademarked or copyrighted characters — such as characters owned by Disney, Universal, Warner Bros., or any other rights holder — is not permitted and will not be fulfilled. Our content safety systems will detect such requests and offer to create an original character inspired by the same archetype instead.

For example, if you ask for a story featuring a well-known superhero from a major franchise, NightTale will offer to create your child's own unique superhero with a name and powers you choose — which is often a more personalised and memorable experience anyway.

The NightTale name, logo, and all original platform content are owned by NightTale and may not be used without permission.

7. Service Availability

We work hard to keep NightTale running reliably, but we cannot guarantee uninterrupted access. Story generation depends on third-party AI services (Anthropic, fal.ai, and ElevenLabs), and occasional outages or slowdowns can occur. We do not offer credits or refunds for service interruptions unless they are prolonged and attributable to our platform.

We may update, modify, or temporarily suspend features of the service with reasonable notice where possible. Core story generation functionality will not be permanently removed without giving subscribers adequate notice to migrate their content.

8. Ending Your Account

You can cancel your subscription or delete your account at any time from your account settings. When you request account deletion, we will permanently delete your family profile, child profiles, series data, and generated stories within 30 days. Some data may be retained in anonymised, aggregated form where it cannot be re-associated with your identity. Stripe will retain payment records as required by applicable financial regulations.

9. Limitation of Liability

NightTale is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the service, including but not limited to loss of data or access to generated content. Our total liability to you for any claim arising from the use of NightTale will not exceed the amount you paid to us in the three months preceding the claim.

10. Changes to These Terms

We may update these terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we will notify you by email and update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of NightTale after the effective date of updated terms constitutes your acceptance. If you do not agree to the updated terms, you should cancel your account before they take effect.
